Another Filipino Marian Song
« on: November 06, 2008, 11:39:am »
(continued from Mary the Dawn so as not to hijack the thread)

Since some of you liked the first one I posted, here's another favorite Filipino Marian song, again with my rough translation (btw, don't let the album title put some of you off :) ):

AWIT SA INA NG SANTO ROSARYO

Minsan ang buhay ay isang awit ng galak
At mayroong liwanag na tatanglaw sa ating pagyapak
Minsan ang buhay ay isang awit ng luha
At siyang papawi nito ay ang pag-asa ng umaga

At kahit anong tindi ng unos
At kahit anong tindi ng dilim
May isang inang nagmamatyag
Nagmamahal sa ‘tin

Awit niya’y pag-ibig ng Diyos
Tawag niya’y magbalik-loob
Turo niya’y buhay na ang Diyos lamang
Sa ati’y nagkaloob

O Inang Mahal narito kami’t
Awit-awit ang "Ave Maria"
At dalangin ng bawat pamilya’y
Kapayapaa’t pagkakaisa

Ang rosaryo mong hawak namin at
Awit-awit ang "Ave Maria"
Puspos ka ng Diwang Banal
Dinggin ang aming payak na dasal
Ihatid mo kami sa langit
Ng Amang mapagmahal

O Inang Mahal narito kami’t
Awit-awit ang "Ave Maria"
Sa Anak mong si Hesus
Puso namin ay ihahandog

Ang rosaryo mong hawak namin at
Awit-awit ang "Ave Maria"
Puspos ka ng diwang Banal
Dinggin ang aming payak na dasal
Ihatid mo kami sa langit
Ng Amang mapagmahal
SONG FOR THE MOTHER OF THE HOLY ROSARY

Sometimes life is a song of joy
And there is a guiding light for our footsteps
Sometimes life is a song of tears
Comforted by the hope of morning

And no matter how strong the storm
Or how dark the night
There is a mother who watches over
And loves us

Her song is of God's love
Her call is repentance
Her teaching is life
Which only comes from God

O beloved mother, here we are
Singing "Ave Maria"
And each family's prayer
Is peace and unity

We pray your rosary
While singing "Ave Maria"
You are full of the Divine Word
Hear our simple prayer
Bring us to Heaven
Of the loving Father

O beloved mother, here we are
 Singing "Ave Maria"
To your Son Jesus
We offer our hearts

 We pray your rosary
 While singing "Ave Maria"

You are full of the Divine Word
 Hear our simple prayer

Bring us to Heaven
 Of the loving Father

- Ron

O virgin mother of God, He whom the whole world cannot contain enclosed Himself in thy womb, and was made man.

I didn't realize Fillipino (Tagalog) was such a beautiful language.

Ronyu, thanks for this.   The Tagalog lyrics is purity in itself.   I am a Tagalog speaker too (but no practice, having been here in the States toooo long), as well Cebuano and Ilonggo (Hiligaynon).   I should be able to pick it up again when I go there sometime next year.   You'll have to give me directions to the TLMs.

Anything we do without offering it to God, is wasted.” -- St. John Vianney, The Curé of Ars

When next you hear some attack called an idle paradox, Ask after the dox.  Pursue the dox; persecute the dox. In short ask the dox whether it is orthodox.
---G.K. Chesterton, Daily News, October 28, 1911

God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?

In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice.
