Redirect help
« on: October 08, 2014, 09:02:am »

Anyone know how to make things so that if someone were to click on the OldForumURL/xyz.html  they end up at NewForumUrl/xyz.html  and to do so using http redirect rather than html refresh?  Can anyone help a sistah out here?

Matthew 22:36-39: "Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law? Jesus said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

I am not a web programmer but you could place JavaScript in the header of your page. I'm not sure if this is what you mean. Here's a tutorial:

http://www.tutorialspoint.com/javascript/javascript_page_redirect.htm.

Just put the timer with the time out function and have your content say "redirecting in a few seconds". You would put this code on the old webpage. You could also redirect forgetting about the timer.

I have no clue what Pope Francis just said, but whatever it is it's a translation error.

Ahhh! Sorry I forgot about that. It's been a hectic few weeks. What is the old link? I think the best way to do it is do a domain forward in the Godaddy panel. The problem I had with that in the past was the changes just didn't work. Godaddy should fix it though if it doesn't.

Thanks, guys!  DS, the old forum URL was:  http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/

It will be a huge relief to have this problem fixed -- whew!

Ok, I setup the subdomain in GoDaddy control panel. If it doesn't work in 48 hours you might want to contact them and tell them to straighten the mess out. One of my friends was having trouble with Godaddy of the same manner. When your domain is about to expire, you may want to consider transferring to NameCheap (https://www.namecheap.com/domains.aspx). They are a MUCH better registrar and their admin panel isn't wonky like Godaddy.
