The Vatican -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is set to visit Pope
Benedict XVI this week and will likely receive communion during
her visit to the Vatican. Some pro-life Catholics don't want that
to happen and have started a petition asking that Catholic Church
leaders prevent the pro-abortion lawmaker from receiving the
sacrament.

Best of luck.

I don't suppose I'll be eating hat this week though.
A snowball has a better chance in hell then her being excommunicated or at least being denied communion.
I agree with the sentiment, for sure, but I'm kinda iffy on signing a petition.  Bishops, and especially the Pope, should never be swayed by popular opinion even if the opinion is objectively correct.

Polls and petitions should have no place in affecting their decisions, IMO.

Much better to write a charitable letter explaining one's concerns.  We want to appeal to the Popes and Bishops with the truth, not with numbers.  The truth is unchanging, numbers go with the wind.

I don't feel strongly, but this is definitely what I think.

Game, set , match.
What Quis said.
First, I wonder if she will follow protocol and wear a black dress and veil in the presence of the Pope.  Will she genuflect and kiss his ring?

But what if she went to confession beforehand?  I can picture her receiving Communion in the hand from the pope; he gave Communion in the hand to Bro. Roger of Taizé, so why not Pelosi who professes to be Catholic?
