I think Fr. Baker gives a fair summary. We need to expect more. But I am guessing the secular media and modernist catholic magazines will have a different story. Especially after the liturgical renewal, lifting of excommunications amongst numerous other things. Expect the typical "pope is disaster!" rubbish folks.

Remember: PRAY FOR POPE BENEDICT! Pray for his safety on his trip to Israel and that he remains in good health! And remember to thank God for giving us a man such as this as our pope!
God bless the Pope!
From one of those pre-Vatican II "triumphalist" hymns:

Long Live the Pope Wrote:Long live the Pope!
His praises sound
Again and yet again:
His rule is over space and time:
His throne the heart of men:
All hail! The Shepherd Pope of Rome,
The theme of loving song:
Let all the earth his glory sing
And heav’n the strain prolong.

Beleaguered by
the foes of earth,
Beset by hosts of hell,
He guards the loyal flock of Christ,
A watchful sentinel:
And yet, amid the din and strife,
The clash of mace and sword,
He bears alone the Shepherd Staff,
The champion of the Lord.

His signet is the Fisherman’s
No sceptre does he bear
In meek and lowly majesty
He rules from Peter’s chair
And yet from every tribe and tongue
From every clime and zone
Three hundred million voices sing
The glory of his throne

Then raise the chant,
With heart and voice,
In Church & school & home:
“Long live the Shepherd of the Flock!
Long live the Pope of Rome!”
Almighty Father bless his work,
Protect him in his ways,
Receive his prayer, fulfill his hopes,
And grant him length of days!
This pope seems to be negotiating the needs of the Church without alienating us entirely from society, and possible converts/reverts. It must be a difficult balance to maintain. Viva il Papa!

That was great. May God bless the Holy Father Benedict XVI!!
Go B16!  Multos annos!
Sto lat Benedict XVI
By far one of our greatest blessings.

People who expect a pontiff like Pius X (in certain respects), I think, are somewhat silly, ignorant, naive, etc. because they envision today's world as being the exact same as the one that existed one hundred to three hundred years ago. Christendom is gone. We have a new world to contend with. Thank God for the Church's ability to adapt her battle plan to the future.

Pray for the Pope. Let him pray for you too.
