The Dominos thread got me wondering what you guys consider great pizza (oxymoron? bite your tongue!). I lurve Ledo Pizza, http://www.ledopizza.com/about-us.cfm but I think it's a regional thing. They've got the best super-thin crust and awesome sauce. Anybody else?
Hmmm Ledo Pizza. I see that there isn't any location remotely near Chicago.

Next!
Having worked for a number of pizza places (independent and chains), I think that Pizzaria Uno is among the best chain restaurant pizzas in America.  That crust is totally uncopyable.  I've tried.  My recipe box is littered with tried and failed replicas of the crust.  It's dense and light and flaky and silky and grainy and firm and delicate all at the same time.  And delicious.
Johnny Brasco's.  Gusano's is pretty good, too.

Worm's Pizza?

no thanks.... :P

A guy from work invited me there for lunch, one day.  I casually mentioned that the name meant 'worms' in Spanish.

He stopped in mid-stride, looked at me, and asked, "Are you serious?"

I still laugh at the 'worms' sign.

*sigh*  you had to be there...

...I bet it was funny!

when I was little, we used to go to Shakey's Pizza - does that still exist?

player piano, banjo guy, lots of over - imbibing dreamy ( to 11 year old me) college students....

I loved that place.

I haven't seen a Shakey's in forever. Godfather's pizza, either.
Papa John's.  Better ingredients, better pizza.

I know, I'm so proletarian it's sickening.  But come on, it's pizza.

Eh, that's not so bad. How about, "Godfather's--A pizza you can't refuse"? Man, that's been stuck in my head waaay toooo long.
