“To be clever enough to get all that money, one must be stupid enough to want it.”

–G.K. Chesterton’s short story “The Paradise of Thieves”, in the collection The Wisdom of Father Brown.

Our brief note: In this connection, in response to the opinion that judges value–whether of individuals or families, nations or religions–by material wealth or “success”, we recall the words of Christ our Lord:

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (St. Matthew 19:24)
