Greetings,

I read that some Melkite Patriarchs, in their writings, have stated that they do not accept twelve of the last fourteen councils as oecumenical. Are they allowed to do this?
They haven't been excommunicated for it.
So they dont except Vatican II? Good for them.

Archbishop Elias Zoghby - he was not the patriarch but an archbishop in Leabonon.

He did not formally deny them but he suggested it in writing, only to be rebuked by both the Melkite synod and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
