Vatican denies rumours of a new Encyclical regarding the restoration of Gregorian Chant as the standard for liturgical music in respect to the Vatican Council's statement about it having "pride of place".  It further accuses Kreuz.net of National Socialist associations and creating confusion among the laity in Germany.

Say what?
Kreuz.net is a traditionalist German newsite and it is being accused by a Representative of Vatican Radio for disseminating a fake encyclical entitled, Musicam Sacram Fovere, which aims at further restoring Gregorian Chant in all parishes throughout the Church.  If it seems too good to be true, it probably is, but it isn't evident if Radio Vatican is telling the truth or not; it's not like they don't lie.

In addition to calling attention to this, Vatican Radio is also accusing Kreuz.net of having National Socialist associations, having a US based server to avoid prosecution under German Law and makes other jabs about some of their boldfaced comment, "too beautiful to be real".

The response from Vatican Radio was petulant and really unprofessional.  Sound familiar?
Well I can't comment on the music part, but I CAN tell you that Vatican Radio's coverage of the Climate summit in Copenhagen made me thoroughly disgusted.  You'd think they were being paid off by green peace.  It was clear they were closet liberals or, at the very least, sooooo Novus Ordo.  ::)

Probably all of the above.

I'm not sure I truly see a difference; if one falls for one, the other is generally accepted, too.
Well if Vatican Radio is right then hopefully the whole controversy puts a few ideas into the Holy Father's head. An encyclical promoting Gregorian Chant sounds amazing.
I am sure there are many draft encyclicals that are prepared and then discussed and disgarded.
No doubt this was leaked somehow.
Though it would be nice to see Gregorian Chant restored, I would rather see communion in the hand abolished and a year of penance imposed on the universal church for reparation for the sins to which Our Lord was subjected.
