Hey there everyone. I am writing my senior thesis at present on the Catholic Church in Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia under communism. I will probably wittle it down some but does anyone know of any good books and websites I can use.? Thank you

*Books especially
I am sorry, I can be of no help. I would, however, be very much interested in reading the final copy. All the best.
IMHO you cannot address the story of the Church in the former popular democracies without first adressing the 180° reversal that happened in the Vatican's foreign policy by the beginning of the sixties and even beforehand, in a hidden way, under pope Pius XII, despite the stance he had against Communism which he once defined as "intrinsically pervert".
In fact although Pius XII had strictly forbidden the Vatican's Secretariat of State to have contacts with any communist country without his agreement, he was given irrefutable proofs that Mgr Montini (the future pope Paul VI) who worked in the foreign affairs dept had secret contacts with USSR officials since many years, probably as soon as the early forties. Montini was immediately dismissed and nominated archbp of Milano thus barred by Pius XII to ever become cardinal and partake in the next conclave.
In fact upon his death, his successor John XXIII whom everybody knew to have liberal opinions and pro-communist sympathies immediately reversed Pius XII's decision in naming him a cardinal thus widely opening him the gates to the papacy.
Under pope John the Montini's secret contacts became official at a diplomatic level. The pope strictly forbade anyone to address the issue of communism during the council after a pact had been signed between the USSR's orthodox church puppets and the cardinal Tisserant in Metz: The main challenge that the Catholic faced in these times was deliberately pushed aside as if it was a minor an unimportant matter(!).
Once elected Paul VI, as blind as his predecessor, proceeded full steam in the same way despite the persecutions the Catholic churches underwent  in the countries beyond the Iron Curtain and in China, shamefully sacrifying millions of Catholic faithfuls on the altar of an absurd policy of which the consequences are still felt today.

Everyone keeps telling me to get this book! A very interesting read??

Off topic, I heard Fr Jenkins of the SSPV the other night on WFTS say that Cardinal Tisserant had proof that Pope Pius XI was poisoned...Anyone know of a book or source that mentions this?? I'm assuming the Bolsheviks were involved or was it the fascists??
Yeah get it. Dunno if it's true but it explains a lot if it is.

According to Malachi Martin, Pope Pius XI was murdered on the orders of Benito Mussolini.

Very  intriguing, eye opening interview.!! I have heard Dr. Hildebrand speak on EWTN, but I never realized she was that much against what occurred post Vatican II and the lack of leadership condemning Communism from Pope Paul VI.
