To the world, the Pope is an elected official in a human organisation.

That's true.

However, the possibility to resign is also true and valid.
I think this...like his other comments that are being reported all over the news...should have been kept private...not documented in a book length interview.  I don't think this helps Catholics in any way.

But it is nothing unique. There seems to be something special in this report. Why should it be a news report that the Pope would resign if he were unable to do his duties?

Because the Pope has gone public about it. It's not the reporter's fault that the Pope went out of his way to say it.
Not much point in buying this book is there?

Seems to have all been leaked before hand.
The press secretary should be flogged with wet tagliatelle. This kind of an interview is a priceless jewel and should have been given to someone that is Catholic, but an intellectual, and has cache in the world, thus increasing the reporter's reputation and handling the Pope with the true dignity he deserves. This geo-politics played by amateurs, or the opposition in the Vatican in conjunction with the media, is a further attempt to ruin the Pope. This could have been a teaching moment, and show how deeply the Holy Father thinks, and the remark about male prostitutes and condoms as an indication of Catholic Charity and an invitation to repentance to the entire world. This is no better or no worse to what was orchestrated against Bishop Williamson.

We dont need 2 Popes , we have enough problems correcting one. If we need another Pope i hear there is oone in the American Midwest and another somewhere in Spain. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL  Soon everyone will want to be the Pope but thats only if they humble themselves with their immoral lifestyles, aborting children and unnnatural acts most think their GOD................as the old jew would say  oy veh!!!!!!!!!
A statement like this seems to be a fruit of a contraceptive and abortion culture.

What else did he say? Is he going to be cremated to decrease his carbon footprint?
