The decision in this case would be up to the child/teenager, who has the use of reason.  "We ought to obey God, rather than men" (Acts 5:29).

Someone should have shown this to Jose-Maria Escriva.

I believe this would be more a decision of prudence rather than doctrine. Acting against the will of parents should be a rare occurrance, and there should be a fairly serious reason for doing so.

Since when is a canonized saint, a heretic?

That's an oxymoron and impossible.

First of all, I am not in any way associated with the Opies, nor am I a devotee of him, but that's St. Josemaria to you, bub.  Tip o' the hat

Secondly, in regards to the video, he is urging caution to a Catechumen who is still a minor, in the hopes that the slow and steady path (which is traditional with adult converts) has a chance of converting her parents as well.  Hardly indifferentist.

Yes, that is why you are being called out on it.  Eye-roll

Not at all.  I am merely engaging with what you say.  To accuse a canonized saint of heresy is problematic, to deny the teachings of the Doctors of the Church such as St. Thomas doubly so.  I am merely asking you to justify your position.

I can't justify my position without setting myself up for a ban. Let's just leave it at that.
