This is no joke, there is a group out there has formed that is now actively seeking to preserve the spirit of Vatican II they have been forced to do this due to the direction in which Rome seems to be heading and they see that the Council is in danger.

This week, about 240 priests from around the country are meeting at Saint Leo University in St. Leo for the inaugural assembly of the newly formed Association of U.S. Catholic Priests. Among its goals: To be a "voice of hope" and to "celebrate and implement the visionary concepts of Vatican Council II."

The Rev. David Cooper, a Milwaukee pastor and board chairman, says keeping the spirit of what was intended by the council — which opened in October 1962 and concluded in December 1965 — is urgent, given the direction the church seems to be taking.

"We're not positioning ourselves to be a controversial voice, but a collaborative one," he says. "With fewer priests and smaller dioceses spread out, you can feel isolated. This gives us a place to gather and share our concerns and goals."

grandpaHuh?

Gees for goodness sake go back to bed you are going to break another hip.
Did you see the picture of the gathering? Looks like a large majority are well past 60. So some of the hippies are worried.
Time can heal wounds after all.
They look like a bunch of old bingo player wannabee's  Smile  These guys have already done as much damage as they could , their day is past, next battle conservative Novus Ordo types vs Traditional Catholics, for the restoration of TRADITION
They should be scared.
Pathetic! But you had to know it was bound to happen. Actually, most of the N.O. hierarchy is probably in complete agreement with them!

No Crucifix, no candles, no Mass.
At least a couple of the priests in attendance were wearing the correct liturgical color with their white shorts LOL  When you see a picture like this versus the pictures of Catholics in the bad old days how can you seriously take the whole Vatican 2 charade seriously.
