Those Novus Ordo hymns    I will never miss them at all.
(08-18-2012, 11:33 PM)CollegeCatholic Wrote: [ -> ]It stems from the belief that everyone in the congregation MUST be able to see EVERYTHING that goes on at the altar.

Also, I remember reading something that recommended that communicants at Mass should be able to receive from the Host that is consecrated at the time.

Here it is: "In order that the communion may stand out more clearly even through signs as a participation in the sacrifice actually being celebrated, steps should be taken that enable the faithful to receive hosts consecrated at that Mass. [82]" Eucharisticum Mysterium, May 25, 1967

I've always figured that this was the reason for the practice at my local church: since the congregation there is so small (recently decreased by one ) the giant host is big enough for everyone to receive from it. It's specially perforated, to break into convenient (if jagged) little triangles, which do indeed shed crumbs. Honestly, I don't really care whether the Host that I receive was consecrated at that particular Mass.

On. Eagle's. Wings.
This thread has made me supremely thankful to our good and loving God that since the new rite of ordination has given us a bunch of doubtfully ordained "priests" and the NO "Mass" is a doubtful "Mass" that these people are just trampling bread underfoot.

There, there my findus fishie finger friends, no need to shed all those crocodile tears about non-existent "outrages" that occur at non-"Masses."  We all know what the score is, don't we?  Of course we do.  :awww:

Amazing Grace was immensely popular as well.

If the new rite of consecrating a bishop was so doubtful, I wonder why Bishop Ottaviani gave it his ok as CDF? Truly a brilliant man, I doubt something like that would slip by him.

Just as an FYI, Ottaviani resigned as head of the CDF in January, 1968. The New Rite of Episcopal Consecration was introduced in July, 1968.

He examined it in 67.
