To manifest his support for the Middle East’s persecuted Christians, the bishop of Leiria-Fátima, Portugal, has announced that the statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be making a pilgrimage to Damascus on September 7.

Urging the UN and the EU not to abandon the “victims of intolerance and fundamentalism,” Bishop António Augusto dos Santos Marto said that he wished “to respond to the appeal of the bishops of the Middle East, witnesses of the extermination of the Christians in the face of the indifference of the international community.”
That is a brave and holy thing to do. Pray that it will be blessed.

The book "Fatima: The Great Sign" by Francis Johnston recalls when the Pilgrim Virgin statue of Our Lady of Fatima traveled in various places around the world some decades ago, there were some miraculous manifestations. Non-Catholics paid respect to Her, and the crowds were huge everywhere. Conversions were everywhere, such as in Charleroi, Belgium, where 62 priests had heard confessions even on the sidewalks, and in that time (1940's) it was a Communist-infested city. I personally think that if once again the travelling Pilgrim Virgin statues of O.L. of Fatima became big events, bringing them to places where Mary's intercession is needed the most, we can help turn back this tide of evil that has swept over us. If other groups have other images of Our Lady, they will be just as efficacious, such as the image of Our Lady of Lebanon that went from village to village in Lebanon prior to its Bishops consecrating their country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. My observation is that because of the consecration, ISIS has not been able to harm or spread into Lebanon significantly despite threats by ISIS, and that Hezbollah that is supportive of the Assad government in Syria hasn't been able to drag their country into a major conflict.

Point is, public devotions to Our Blessed Mother like the Pilgrim Virgin statues travelling country to country, city to city, and even home to home like what "America Needs Fatima" has been doing brings all sorts of graces.
