When you visit a cemetery from November 1 through November 8 and pray for the dead, a plenary indulgence can be granted to the souls in Purgatory (from what I understand, please correct me if I'm wrong).

My question is, do I have to do the usual "conditions" (reception of sacramental Confession; reception of Holy Communion; performance of a prescribed work; etc.) for a plenary indulgence in order for it to be granted to the souls in Purgatory? '

I guess I'm confused, since I'm still trying to understand Indulgences.

Also if you haven't already please visit a cemetery before November 8 and pray for the dead there. I went to a beautiful Catholic cemetery today and walked around looking at all the headstones, praying along the way. It truly is a wonderful experience.
