Is there anything good related to these topics? Sorry in advance if this has come up in a previous topic already.

I’m wondering if anyone has resources from a traditional/faithful Catholic POV that deal with living with bipolar disorder and ADD/ADHD, as I do.

Now I already see behavioral health specialists, doctors, etc and am medicated, etc. so I get all the help from the secular side. But how am I supposed to be viewing this from a Catholic lens?

Especially when I view my mind as a prison; that people view me as a burden (and that my illness is an extreme burden on myself, family, work, and society); to have no friends anymore because they don’t understand me; and to completely suffer from this alone?

The Church has been absolutely no help for me, I’m afraid. But maybe I’m just selfish.

Great question Sequentia. This is the problem I have with my own challenges, really hope there is something out there.

FultonFan your link is helpful and gives a good overview.

My sister has been battling mental health issues for years she tried to end her life over it and broke my heart.

I wish you both the best and keep fighting the good fight. Listen to your docs find a support group.

I'll say a prayer for you both

God Bless

This is a great question. I am currently separated from my wife because she can't take my impusive actions. I am living alone in an apartment with my dog. I do see a mental health specialist. Psychiatrist and meds don't seem to help. Sometimes I feel I'm better off alone because I am less of a burden (out of sight out of mind). By the way I do attend daily Mass. I walk a mile each way.

I hope you get the help you need and work things out with your wife
