Quote:Pope Francis has called the carved wooden statues at the center of an idolatry scandal in the Vatican “Pachamama statues,” confirming suspicions that the statues were idols of the Incan fertility goddess.

Speaking to attendees at the Amazon Synod, he apologized as “the bishop of Rome” to those who were offended at the statues being removed from the church and thrown into the Tiber.

How is this not apostasy? He's defending the erection of idols in the Holy Place of God and apologizing for their destruction. Then he off-handedly says they aren't "meant" to be idolatrous. He knows what they're doing, let's stop skirting around the issue and call a spade a spade: this is apostasy.

If you asked popes, theologians, and saints if these last 50 years were possibile, most of them would say no.
