Re: Are we headed for schism - littlerose - 04-10-2010

Would it be a fairly bipolar split or a splintering, shattering collapse?

If the Pope is affected badly by the secular assaults that are going on, such as the supposed arrest plans in UK, then I don't see the parishes and bishops being able to hold the Church together. The leftwing extremists all want to decentralize and dissipate the Church's resources, and they won't have any opposition in a true Papal crisis. The Traditionals may hold out as isolated communities, but we are vulnerable to assault from the ultra-rightists and sedes.

Personally, I do believe the Pope will avert a crisis but I also believe it may take a near-miracle on his part to do so, if the secular threats are carried out.

Right!...the waste majority are the vast majority...and the vast majority...rejecting what is Catholic...are in defacto schism...even when they pretend to lick the boot of the Pope just as an intellectual "photo op"

it's not a "we in the middle of super libs and ulta conservs are right" situation...infact, that middle of the road positioning, in anything is considered HERESY by the Church, since truch does not stand in the middle of extremes...it stands alone....just as "traditonal Catholicism" does...since it IS Catholicism.

Good points.

I wonder how this guy has never become truly traditional.

I don't want to be in the waste majority that is for sure.  What a waste they are.

1. "The Traditionalist"- Very Strong Faith, they have received the Holy Spirit and the Saints & Angels are protecting and watching over them, so they know whats going on in the world today.
2. "The Conservatives/Neo-Cons"- Heart is in the right place, but brain is deluded by the modern world--Soul is in a constant battle between the devil and the Holy Spirit, the Traditionalist in them is there somewhere, but they can't reach deep inside. Their  true intentions are being deluded by something unforeseen.(This is a hard one to understand)
3. "The people who go to mass every Sunday, but simply don't think too much about Church affairs"- These people need to be educated because they are simply very naive. In some instances a few have had conversions and became Traditionalists..I use to be one of these, but most continue to let the blind churchmen lead them. They think believe God is taking care of the NO and everything will work out real soon. You can probably call some in this group neo-liberals.
4. "Outright Liberals"- I call these people Progressives or Socialists..These are the poor souls with Obama stickers on their car in the church parking lot- They believe in contraception, sex before marriage, and even believe abortion/euthanasia in some instances are perfectly okay..These individuals think Jesus was a Communist, think they are worshiping Jesus, but in actuality are following and/or used as a tool by the Devil to help deceive the world... They probably lost 99% of their soul, so unfortunately they are most likely lost. I do believe very few(maybe 1%) in #4 can do a 180 with a special grace from  the Blessed Mother, but these are very few and far between and usually need true miracles!

Perhaps I'm a little off base with each label, so anyone please feel free to enlighten me.
You forgot one category, which is the one that the majority of Catholics falls into:  the non-practicing Catholic.  That group does not practice the Faith and cares little about it.  That's the majority of the Church.

True, but I didn't include them as I was responding to the meat of Christoper's post. The non-practicing "catholics" were not one of his selections, so they need not apply. :)

Crusaderfortruth3372, I think your breakdown is accurate. I can think of folks in each of those categories.
