Coke is always locally bottled, usually by independent owners who just buy the syrup from Coca-Cola, Inc.  I have no ethical concerns because I have in fact visited the local bottling plant which is very clean, uses water from the water supply, etc.

If they don't bottle it right in India, those plants should be boycotted by those customers.  My bottler behaves, and I'm happy to give him my business.

You can clean battery acid off your cables with Coke and an old toothbrush.  Or use your current toothbrush, whatev.  :bronxcheer:

Indeed...this "attenuated" relationship Coke maintains with local bottlers has gotten them off the hook with regard many a local scandal world wide.Very clever. In Columbia however,Coke bought out the bottling plant where paramilitary violence is still brought to bear on workers attempting to improve their lot.............communists not doubt.

[edit] I should clarify that it is the plant owners in Columbia who use the Paras to suppress Union issues there.

Anyhow, I need to eliminate the colas from my diet as I have increased in size and well I need to get back into shape.  When I had my first run of weight loss, I cut the carbonated beverages out of it and lost like 50 lbs with sometimes excessive exercising and a not particularly healthy diet but better than it was before in about 6 months.

Yep,Coke doesn't taste the same over seas as a result of the use of HFCS as you say and HFSC is a major factor in diabetes and other problems. To add insult to injury the corn used is all GMO, known to be carcinogenic in animals. Most animals in fact avoid GMO if given a choice.some sort of animal instinct at work there...

Anyone see the "King Korn" documnetary....worth a look.

I try to avoid too much HFCS.  I think if we can greatly reduce our general corn usage in everyday life, the better we are whether it is stopping the biofuel madness, obesity, etc as well as alleviating potential water concerns.  Lentils all the way!!!

Sorry for bumping this thread

I love coke

and I wanted you to know that the president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, believes in the silly conspiracy theory according to which Coke still has cocaine, and that is why it is so addictive.

Remember Coke's very own Novus Ordo moment in the 80's? At least they had the good sense to get rid of the new Coke that no one had asked for!

Diet Coke is meant to the be the sugar free formulation of New Coke.
Coke Zero is meant to the sugar free formulation of Coke Classic.

The soft drink company Bowen and Bowen has a near monopoly on all drinks sold in the country of Belize.  They only sell Coca Cola products.
