Brown scapulars with man-sized cords, please! - Clare Brigid - 06-07-2011

I am looking for a brown scapular made for men.  I need one with long cords, so that the scapular is not riding up into my collar bone or up the back of my head.  One size most certainly does not fit all.  Gentlemen, you know what I'm talking about!

Can anyone direct me to an online store that offers brown scapulars with man-sized cords?  I would be very grateful.

Actually, theirs ride up too, but wear like iron.

Your head and neck are more than 28" around?

I tie a knot (carefully so it is even) in the front of my scapular. This allows me to keep it in order by allowing the knot to prevent it from riding up.

If the cords are too long, I think one risks the scapular riding down too far...

I recently started wearing a new one that I got from the Fatima Center.  It hangs down to a couple of inches above my belly button.  I was surprised it was so long cause my last one that I had been wearing for ten or twelve years was also from the Fatima Center but it had gotten tangled and cut a few times so it was getting short and tattered.  You can request one for free from the Fatima Center.

Also just today I received and fastened a new Miraculous Medal to my scapular that I got from the Association of the Miraculous Medal.  The eyelet on my old one broke.  This new one is a nice medal, a stronger one.  It's also free.

I donate to the Fatima Center when I can and I plan to request the Association of the Miraculous Medal to light a Votive Candle for my intentions with a donation.  It's a win win situation all around.  :)

Mine acts like a garrote.

My solution is a St. Benedicts crucifix Tied on a long boot lace. They get entwined, How I don't know, but the Cricifix keeps the Scapular down on my chest. The other end seems to be held in place by the collar and the tag of my tee shirt. I bought the Crucfix at a place called Monks something or other on the web.
The Crucifix is pretty big and it was inexpensive.Oh and I have a Miraculous Medal on there too. More weight, and it makes it easier to get tangled..

Hijacking the thread slightly, but I also have a problem with my scapulars which is that the pictures of Jesus and Mary tend to rub off very quickly.  Couple of months and it's just blank on both sides.  Any suggestions for how to stop this?  Or do people use the scapular medal instead?  My preference is for a cloth one, as that's what was given to Saint Simon Stock by Our Blessed Mother.......

Mines the el cheapo that our priests handed out, so the pictures have worn off in a few months. I have been wondering if there are better quality ones. Especially ones that are condusive to excersising and other active activities. I'm one of those guys that doesn't wear any jewelry and such; and really dislike having something around my neck.

The Sisters of Carmel make excellent ones which wear like iron, and do not fade.
