Therese, the 1986 French film - Beatissima Mariae - 07-26-2011

No doubt referenced here before, but thought I would bring it to the fray once more. I found this brilliant and I love the minimalism (or their lack of budget ). I think the actress does a very fine job, and definitely bears a likeness to the real Therese Martin - Therese of the Child Jesus.

Absolutely.

I saw this film for the first time about a month ago. Was on a weekend, had had a few adult beverages, and was messing around on the computer and was about to go to bed when I came across Therese. I started it, not intending to finish it, but I couldn't stop. I was dialed in to say the least. By the end, I had a new appreciation for St. Therese. it was very interesting also to see a mid 80's interpretation from the French themselves. Though this movie and the more recent movie  both closely follow her autobiography.

For those who have not seen it yet, stick with it until the 2nd or 3rd video, you'll be hooked.

I'll continue from part 2 here:

I didn't realize they made it in 1986, I thought it was later than that. It looks like a good film, and I've been dying to watch it, so I guess now I'll actually have to go out and buy it.
