Do You Think the Holy Ghost Chose Pope Benedict XVI?

No.

The Holy Ghost (or in the language of modernists, the Holy Spirit) does not choose a pope when the intentions of the Cardinals are not the salvation of souls.

If your Faith is on shaky ground, please firm it up by embracing devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary!!!

"Holy Ghost" or "Holy Spirit" are synonyms.

It has nothing to do with modernism.

Never heard Holy Spirit around here till after V2.

Put it this way - NOers say Holy Spirit - dead give away.

That is a genetic fallacy.  It is illogical to dismiss something as false based on who says it or believes it.  We should judge matters on their own merits.

In any case, "spirit" conveys the meaning of "spiritus" better than "ghost".  A ghost is seen as the spirit of a dead person and often haunts houses.  That's not the "spiritus sanctus."  I personally use "holy ghost" in honor of the tradition, but there is nothing wrong with saying "holy spirit."

Pax,
Jesse

Yes, yes the meaning is the same - it was just more "change for the sake of change" that's all.

Which means it doesn't matter.

The change did nothing damaging or beneficial.

But in this case the change was not detrimental to the faith or heretical.

Spiritus translates as "spirit" or "ghost." It's just a matter of preference. Indeed, the Anglophone tradition has enshrined the use of "Holy Ghost" to refer to the 3rd Person of the Holy Trinity but there's nothing instrinsically wrong with "Holy Spirit." Just use the one you're more comfortable with.

Understood.

I just always recall it as being a part of the changes when priests - who *always* used "Ghost"  started using "Spirit" instead of "Ghost"............."Ghost" was considered old fashioned, not with the times etc back then.

When was the last time anyone heard a NO priest or lay person say "Holy Ghost"?

I believe "Ghost" is from German and "Spirit" from Latin. That would why the English were wont to say "Holy Ghost" and the Spanish, for example, "Santo Spirito." Geez I wish that was all that we had to worry about. because if it was, I wouldn't worry!
