Patron Saint for the Year Devotion - Cindy - 01-16-2012

This (below) was posted on AQ, author: St. Benedict.
Actually, the saint is the one who chooses us though. The tradition of letting a saint “pick you,” is not a new one.
St. Faustina participated in this devotion, but it did not originate with her.

St. Benedict Quote:
Each year I participate and help put together the Saint for the Year Devotion This tradition, mentioned by St. Faustina, involves me drawing from a container the name of a saint for each person to be a special patron for them. Over the past several years that I have done it, there have been hundreds of participants, devotional lives enkindled, and many connections between the saints and the participants.

This year I drew St. Joachim as my patron.

The drawing takes place daily through the end of January after the recitation of Vespers and the Litany of the Saints.

So it's kind of like the lottery, only that it costs you nothing and you can't lose. Interesting. I can't access the link, as I'm on my phone.

But does the article suggest putting in the hat one of each type of Saint? In another words a Confessor, Virgin, Martyr, etc.?

Hi Adam Wayne,
We can participate up to the end of January.
On that website we leave our name (or initials) and our email address (public or private.)
Then usually by the end of that day we will receive an email with the name of the Saint whom has chosen us.
The folks at this website recite the Litany of the Saints and other devotions before drawing our Saint for us.
I sure hope you will beable to access the site before the end of this month.
Saint Servulus chose me, and my granddaughter was chosen by Our Lady of Lourdes...blessed girly!
