What's wrong with the traditional Latinist movement - Melkite - 10-17-2012

And how it is departing from the Gospel...

Yet trad groups are fond of beating the legalist dead horse.

And yet trad groups fawn over justice at the expense of mercy.

Again, justice trumps mercy in the Latin West.

So much judgement of others, no looking in the mirror.

Easy to ignore your own sins when you have someone else's to point your finger at.

Scholasticism has clearly created not a new way of understanding the Gospel, but a different Gospel altogether.

Very weird. Everything you mention about mercy is exactly what I understand of the Gospel as a trad Western/Latin Catholic.

Have you read the Imitation of Christ? it says the same thing.

Of course we are sinners and trads fail at the above, but so do liberals and so do (gasp) Easterners.

Ironically your whole post seems to judge Latin Catholics when you should be focusing on your own personal holiness.

So what's new?

A twisted mind.

Re: What's wrong with the traditional Latinist movement - TS Aquinas - 10-18-2012

Anyone else notice the contradiction he puts himself in at the end there with the last picture quote and what he said?  :eyeroll:

Where are the pictures from?

Are we surprised he quotes a schismatic 'saint'?

I don't se a contradiction between anything above and the Latinist movement.

I'm reporting this post. It's ridiculous and offensive to pious ears.

Re: What's wrong with the traditional Latinist movement - newyorkcatholic - 10-18-2012

The actual quotes seem profitable. They are applicable to all, however, and there's nothing in the post justifying the targeting of Latin Rite Catholics.

Perhaps Melkite could think about this and modify the post.
