from Marie-Julie Jahenny Wrote:“The crisis will explode suddenly; the punishments will be shared by all and will succeed one another without interruption. The three days of darkness will be on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. During these three days of terrifying darkness, no windows must be opened because no one will be able to see the earth and the terrible color it will have in those days of punishment without dying at once.

No one outside a shelter will survive... red clouds like blood will move across the sky. The crash of the thunder will shake the earth and sinister lightning will streak the heavens out of season. The earth will be shaken to its foundations. The sea will rise, its roaring waves will spread over the continent. The bodies of the wicked and the just will cover the ground. Three-quarters of the population of the globe will disappear. Half the population of France will be destroyed.”

Thank you.

there is nothing funny enough to promote one of the most blasphemous films ever made.

I watched Life of Brian years ago when I more of a moral degenerate than I am now and did not find it funny.
I found it grotesque.

It's definitely funny. (If you have a sense of humor).

Re: 3 day of darkness - Walty - 12-06-2012

The Life of Brian is certainly a blasphemous movie but there are some terrific scenes, none of which are better or more fitting for modern society than this one:

Belive me I have a fone sense of humor....but hell lets just post scenes from debbie does dallas....or the happy hooker....or why not some kiddie porn...there could be some funny stuff there. In fact isnt porn less sinfull then blaspheme. I guess the fact that this movie completely SPITS on our Lords crucifixion and passion is to be overlooked because of the funny bits...Hey I have great idea..lets play funny excerpts during the mass....i mean folks should be cheerfull in church....they need to get a sense of humor

Re: 3 day of darkness - ggreg - 12-07-2012

Satire has to deal with serious subjects to be funny.  It would be a worse world if the satirists ignored religion as boring or irrelevant.

Besides, saying to non Catholics that the life of Brian is not funny is not a way to win hearts and minds, because it clearly is very funny to most of the intelligent population. It was a very popular film.  You just make yourself look like a freak whose religious fervour has stamped out your sense of humour. Better to admit that parts of the film are very funny indeed and make the person realise that satirical humour about religion is funny precisely because it is an important subject dear to men's hearts.

Likewise for 911. The way to win hearts and minds is not to try to convince them that the US government had duplicated aircraft and crashed the airliners full of people into the sea or vaporised them with a death ray, but to focus on building Seven and asked them whether it looks like a controlled demolition.  People like calm minded honesty, not blinkered dishonest views from freaks with a bee in their bonnet.

If they doubt the official story on building seven then they will convince themselves there is a coverup.

If they look why Python is funny they will see because it is dealing with a pivotal moment in history.  It would be hard to make a satire about that moment without offending someone.

Re: 3 day of darkness - voxxpopulisuxx - 12-07-2012

Intellectualise it all you want ggreg...whatever lets you sleep at night. But this movie is not satire about religion...it is an open mockery of the Body of Christ. I dont need to give a pinch of incense to the entertainment gods of pop culture just to be credible. And the wgole thing is beside the point. This is supposed to be a CATHOLIC forum....yeah if im out at a party and someones playing excerpts from youtube on their phone im not running up and slapping it out of their hand screaming BLASPHEMER! I just dont think the film needs to be used in FE...it should be put on the index by vox. Lets not forget you posted your "satire" to MOCK folks who hold to the 3dd as at least possible. Some very good and intelligent holy catholics dont find 3dd to be silly at all.
