Shrines in Honor of Our Lady of Sorrows - CatholicLife - 04-10-2014

In certain parts of Mexico it is tradition to set up a shrine in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows on the last Friday before Holy Week.
It's a nice a nice tradition with much symbolism.

I so love traditional home devotions like this, the "little things" that make a home Catholic!  But, boy, that purple jumps out at you, eh? I feel like I'm in an Oprah movie LOL

Vox,
Lol!
The " Spirit of Vatican II" didn't have a huge impact on popular piety in Mexico.
People still follow traditions like this and there are many young people who are interested in  these things. These traditions won't die anytime soon.

Oh, I like this!  I have a small picture of Our Lady of Sorrows on my bookshelf but I would love a beautiful statue of this image.

BUT this year among my patrons is Our Lady under the title of Our Lady of the Seven Joys!
