Pius XII Psalter - English? - gitlance - 03-14-2017

Could anyone please direct me to an English translation of the Pius XII psalter, either online or in print?

Go to divinumofficium.com and select "reduced 1955" from the options.  The Latin will be on one side of the screen and the English will be on the other side.

My Pocket Psalter is an English translation of the Bea Psalter put in order of the Pius X psalter arrangement.

Thank you both -- but I was referring to the new Latin translation of the Psalter as commissioned by Pius XII and done by Cardinal Bea in the 1940s, not the arrangement of the psalter done by Pius X.

It is used as an option in my copy of Fe. Ronald Knox's English translation of the Bible.

See if you can find a copy of the Benziger Roman Breviary in English, 1964, 'An Approved Translation...from the official Text of the Breviarum Romanum authorised by the Holy See'.

http://brennus.bluedomino.com/    se here - this site is heaven for latinists.  It took me two years (ten years ago) to copy the entire Latin Piux XII Psalter  and arrange it so as to be able to pray the daily office -in Latin- according to Liturgy of the Hours.  After half a century praying the office with the beautiful and expressive Pius XII Psalter I found too hard and distasteful to use the Nova Vulgata.  Then suddenly I found it in the Brennus Bluedomino Latin site.  Among a treasury of information you find many psalters, with translations.

Voltape --

THANK YOU! I've just recently acquired a 1949 Breviarium set with the Pian psalter. My whole life I've only prayed the Vulgate, so this has been a bit of a learning curve, but I'm finding myself increasingly appreciating Pius' psalter.

Again, thank you!

the psalter in "reduced 1955" of divinumofficium.com is the traditional vulgate.  Not Pius XII

It's probably a matter of taste but my preference is for the Vulgate which although perhaps technically a less accurate translation, seems to flow better than the Pian which I also have Breviaries containing.  Other than mentallty I've not tried to translate the Pian into English and I'm a little dubious about how it would come out.
