Jerusalem bible - ActusFidei313 - 02-10-2020

Hi Fishies,

Just wanted to know what your take is on the Jerusalem bible.  I received it as a gift.  I was hoping for the Douay Rheims.  Still no.1 on my book list.

Though I am not well versed in the pros and cons of various translations, I gravitate toward traditional translations on an aesthetic level.  I am working my way all the way through the beautiful Douay Rheims.

Is it the New Jerusalem Bible, or just straight-up Jerusalem Bible? There is a difference.

Hi, sorry for the late response.  It's titled The Jerusalem Bible.

If it's the Jerusalem Bible and not the New JB, then I think you are good. Mother Angelica preferred it, it's used in British and Irish Mass Readings, and the JB had contributions from none other than J.R.R. Tolkein.
