How to sew pleats - AnaCarolina1 - 08-30-2021

My daughter 4foot 9 has a uniform that needs tailoring as it's waaay too long. She's in high school . Sophomore.

Can I do this on machine and not lose pleats?

I can also do by hand, but prefer a blind stitch.

If you're talking about knife pleats, I think it would be best to iron the hem flat-ish, cut parallel to original hem as a pattern, turn up twice with an iron like a normal hem, machine hem, then re-press the pleats by hand iron following the press lines on the above-the-hem fabric.  Probably wouldn't hurt then to baste the pleats at the hem and put in a pressing board for some time, too.

If it's box pleats, it should be even simpler along the same lines as above.

Yes I tried to that and failed. The reason is the school emblem is on the tip of them. So I have to cut the school emblem and see it back on. I mean really, her shirt is mid calf. Ugh.. and she's thin.
