Sure, your friend would consider the confrontation as distasteful.  But then again, the situation was already distasteful anyway, and it ended badly anyway.

I'm tired of people's crap!

i'm with you, Laramie.

i don't care how poor your friend looked, yosupman, people had no right to stare at him when he walked into the Adoration Chapel with you, with you presumably carrying your missal.  it should have been obvious that you were there to pray.  but then they had no right to be yakking it up in the Adoration Chapel, either, so no doubt they think they own the place.

i would tell the pastor what happened so that he can remind all parishioners from the pulpit and in the bulletin about silence before the Blessed Sacrament and having a welcoming attitude toward everyone.  i wouldn't tell him who the people were and i would request that if he did say anything to parishioners, he emphasize that he was not told who the offenders were.

if your parish has a security guard at night (and i hope it does, given the times we live in), maybe the guards need to be instructed to go over to people who are talking in the Adoration Chapel and hand them a card reminding them not to talk in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
