You could pray a portion of the Liturgy of the Hours. You could study the readings of the mass for that day. You could pray the rosary together.
I have an ancestor who lived more than 150 years ago who kept a diary. Almost every Sunday he went to mass. On those Sundays when he was unable to go to mass he would read from his mass book.
