Abortion referendum in Ireland
#1
The date has been set. It's 25 May.

Here's the blog post I just published,

As some of you may have realised from my pinned post Please Pray for Ireland!, Ireland is having a constitutional referendum on 'legalising' the murder of the unborn. A Facebook group has been started to encourage people to join in a Novena to St Patrick, 8 March-16 March before his Feast Day and to pray the Rosary for the defeat of the referendum until 25 May, the date of the referendum. Here is the link, Trias Thaumaturga.

Here is the statement from the group's founder,
Quote:So the fight is well and truly on and the Irish Abortion Referendum is scheduled for May 25, traditionally observed as the Feast of St. Mocholla. For my part, being in England, the most campaigning I can do is online and the bits of writing I can manage. However, the thing about this whole issue is that it is also a spiritual battle. Abortion is to Satan what the Mass is to the Church; it is a perverse and evil confutation of the unbloody Sacrifice of the Altar through the mass slaughter of the innocent. As such, Spiritual weaponry is also required to defeat this diabolic effort.
Quote:As a result, I have organised devotions at St. Michael's School as a means of countering the devil. On Thursday, the 8th March, we are beginning the Novena to Saint Patrick with the intention of defeating the referendum. The novena will be followed by Rosary for the same intention, every day until Saint Patrick's Feast Day. Thereafter, daily Rosary will be preceded by the Litany of the Irish Saints, every single day until the Referendum. It is also my hope to gather together Mass stipends next month to assist in this effort.
Quote:God raised up holy men and women amongst the Gael for the purpose of offering holy examples to follow amongst our own race. As their children, we have a natural host of allies in Heaven to assist us in this battle. I hope to employ your prayers also. If the English can be persuaded to beg of the Irish saints for assistance in this matter, what of our own people at home and scattered across the Globe? I ask all of you to join with us. I have created a group for this purpose. Please join our devotions and help keep abortion out of Ireland. Share it with your friends and recruit as many people as possible to join.

And here is the Novena:

Quote:Glorious Apostle of Ireland, St Patrick, listen to my petition.

Accept the sentiments of gratitude and veneration with which my heart is now filled. I make you the representative of my thanks and the mediator of my homage to Almighty God.

St Patrick, despise not my weakness but remember my cries as I ask for your help. Listen to my humble request so that my prayer will ascend to the throne of God, with the praises and blessings which will forever sanctify His greatness. May my hope be fulfilled by the help and intercession of our forefathers, who now enjoy eternal bliss.

St Patrick, obtain for me the grace to love God with my whole heart, to serve him with my whole strength, and to persevere in all that is good to the end. O faithful shepherd of souls, take my soul, and the souls of all the faithful, under your special care.

St Patrick, as a father to the Church and her faithful, grant that all hearts may share the blessed fruits of the Faith you planted and watered. Grant that, as our ancestors of old discovered, we too can live a life devoted to God.

St Patrick, protect those who teach and govern us. Give them the grace to walk in your imitation, to nurture the faithful with the word of life and the bread of salvation. We ask this blessing through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

O Glorious Saint Patrick, pray for us and seek our intention through this Novena:

"That any attempt to legalise abortion in Ireland will be defeated and that the efforts of the Devil will be overcome in Ireland. "

but may, “God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.

Amen
