As a BC student I'm just glad it's not nobama.
What do you all think in general about Catholic universities inviting politicians to give commencement speeches?

He's just as pro-abort as Obama. He's trying to get baby killing fully legalised in Ireland even now.

I don't like or trust Enda Kenny... But it's a little more complicated than that to be fair.
Technically, 'termination' in the case of a mother's suicidal threat is already legal on foot of a 20 year old supreme court ruling that has never been legislated for. He's trying to legislate. But the pressure seems to be coming from the Labour Party, his junior coalition partners.

Personally I think if he keeps pushing the issue his government will fall. People are angry at the Vatican but there are more than enough TDs who grew up when the Church had a tight control on society who would not vote for any pro-abortion legislation.
Either way, it's a bit dishonest for anyone knowledgeable about the situation to say that Kenny is, "as pro-abort as Obama"

In general, I think it's inevitable. A university obviously wants someone deemed "successful" to give a speech, and the more prestigious the speaker, the more honor it gives to the school hosting him. That means a lot of politicians giving speeches at universities.
Unfortunately, I can't think of any Catholic politicians I'd want to listen to.

To Fleeting Shadow and Irish Ivan-- He is the Leader of Fine Gael is he not? Have you seen this?
UNBORN BABIES CAN BE 'DESTROYED - FINE GAEL PROPOSAL HORRENDOUS, WORSE THAN CLARE DALY'S BILL. (Caps copied and pasted)

It's terrible and I'm not saying Kenny's a good guy who upholds Church teaching. All I'm saying is that claiming he's "as pro-abort as Obama" doesn't really bear much resemblance to the truth.
