Not smoking can be sinful

Don't be silly. People, including Catholics, have been enjoying tobacco for centuries. There isn't anything wrong with it. Moderation my friend, moderation.

Quote:People can drink without becoming alcoholics.  All smokers are addicted to nicotine.  Of course you get those who say they smoke "socially", but those people usually do it to fit in.

Again, how silly. "All smokers are addicted to nicotine"? Come now. My friend, who buys a pack of smokes once a month, is "addicted"? Please. Tobacco is enjoyable for some; it's not something they would murder their neighbor over. "Oh man, I have no smokes and no money! I'm going to burglarize a home for some cigarette money." You want to see real addiction? Go visit a rehab center full of drug addicts and alcoholics.

Quote:This forum is hilarious.  The smokers/those who support smoking get viciously angry in these smoking threads saying that smoking isn't really that bad for you(again, hilarious), meanwhile, the same people are calling for soy milk to be banned?  Is this a joke?

How silly.

Quote:Gay sex kills more people than smoking?  I don't have gay men throwing their AIDS infested bodily fluids on me when I go to a bar, but, I do have to put up with smoke.

You are apparently piteously under-informed about the dangers and health risks of sodomy. I've read no less than 5 books on the subject in addition to numerous articles. I've also had gay friends in my lifetime, and I KNOW what kind of disgusting, unsanitary practices they indulge in. They aren't shy about their sex lives. Trust me, AIDS is not the only concern. Sodomites routinely take antibiotic cocktails before a "night on the town" to counteract any infections they may pick up. You may not have sodomites throwing their fluid on you in bars (unless of course they sneeze or cough. Can you say "airborne"?), but they are handling your fast food orders, handling your groceries when you check out -oh, and they may be serving your drinks at that bar you mentioned.

Quote:Oh that's right, it's YOUR right, and I should go somewhere else, because smokers' rights come first.

No, it's the owner of the establishment who has the right to tell me I can or can't smoke on his property. Not you, and not the government.

Additionally, there used to be smoking and non-smoking sections in every restaurant and bar. How is that saying that smoker's rights come first? However, now non-smokers rights come before smokers so I don't want to hear anymore from you about how our rights trump yours, because that's a lot of hogwash. We have no rights anymore. YOU have all the rights.

Quote:If you want to see the effects of smoking first-hand, look in the mirror people.  You look OLD, you have gum disease(yes, even if you brush), and your teeth are disgusting.  Not to mention that involuntary upbringing of brown phlegm.  Oh no, that's not unhealthy at all! *sarcasm*  My personal fave is the smokers' cough, a real phlegm special.  So attractive!  Yeah, and that smokers' voice is real hot.  Husbands love to feel like they're waking up beside another man.  You may not have all these symptoms now, but believe me, you will, but you already know that.

LOL! You are so ridiculous it's comical. That's a stereotype if I've ever heard one. Get a grip on reality already.

Quote:Smokers can soothe their guilty consciences however they like, but don't propagandize everyone else and their children, and quit making non-smokers and those of use who care about our health and the health of our children out to be the bad guys.

I don't have a guilty conscience.

Propaganda? You can't be serious. It's radicals like you who continue to lend credence to junk science about tobacco. If you do enough research, you will find many flaws in these so-called studies. Right now it just happens to be in vogue to pretend that smokers kill everyone they come in contact with and are responsible for every health issue on the planet.

Even more interesting is the fact that while the powers-that-be decry smoking, they levy heavy taxes on smokers and use that money to fund their pet projects. How hypocritcal. And now that they are making extra money off smokers, do you really think they want everyone to stop smoking? Where will they get all that extra cash? I'll tell you where they'll get it from if there are no more/not enough smokers to fund their projects: you. It's already in the works. I listened to a radio program yesterday about this very subject. The powers-that-be are getting concerned (LOL) about their tobacco funds slowing down and are getting their backup plan together in case that happens. In other words, they're going to get the funds from everyone. That includes you.
