excerpts:
“The attack on Christians in Orissa was an attack against the sacredness and dignity of human life.  The world must know this,” said Fr Bernard Digal. “In some countries even animals have rights and laws. In Kandhmal we were treated worse than animals. Every possible indignity, obscenity and torture was meted out against helpless Christians. Men, women, children; everyone was targets of brutal atrocities.”

There is no end to the tension in Orissa, where for two weeks a pogrom has been underway against Christians. Many of the faithful who have taken shelter in the refugee camps after their homes were destroyed and burned have found themselves threatened in the camps as well, where they should be protected by the police. The threats come from the Hindu radicals of the VHP (Viswa Hindu Parishad) and of the RSS (Rastriya Swyamsevak Sangh), who force the tribals to convert back to Hinduism, or suffer new violence. Some of the priests and their relatives have also been threatened, and as a sign of their "reconversion", they are shaved bald like sadhus (Hindu ascetics).

Sajan K George noted that every Sunday Sangh Parivar extremists invade Christian places of worship, shouting anti-Christian slogans and beating up the faithful. By and large police just stand by watching, silent.
Talking about the incident in which she was involved, Sister Mamata told AsiaNews that “Mother Teresa worked tirelessly to bring God’s love to the poorest of the poor. We are but her daughters and all we want is to continue her work even if it means suffering. Indeed we are ready to pay the price for being disciples of Jesus.”

I've been hearing about this for a while now and it makes no headlines whatsoever in the mainstream media. Yet I had one guy show me a link of one person yelling in protest of a Hindu priest saying a prayer on the Senate floor on C-SPAN. This was supposed to show how intolerant Christians were.

Sadhu's can also have long dreadlocks.

The persecution of Christians especially Catholics is always ignored by the secular world. It always will be.

Some people really know how to bite the hand that feeds them, don't they.
Christians are a minority with a well-entrenched infrastructure which benefits ALL Indians. How quickly some forget Mother Teresa.

Then whether they like it or no, our brethren in India will have to arm themselves to defend themselves against the Hindu extremists.

Since the police won't help them, they'll have to help themselves. God forgive us all.

In the meantime, let's at least pray an extra Hail Mary for our Indian fellow Catholics.

While seven million Byzantine Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians of the Ukrainian ethnicity, and from the Cossacks and the kulaks of the Soviet Union were deliberately starved to death during the Holodomor (1931-1935), the world did nothing, the Jewish World Congress did nothing, the New York Times was flatly denying any genocide was happening.

The same with the massive extermination campaigns in earlier periods of Bolshevik Russia, 1917-1925, when Catholics were sent to Gulag camps to die.

No one in the Western world mass media decried the systematic extermination of Catholics by the Mao regime in communist mainland China.
