I suspect that won't be the official reason.

Sure they can but they didn't seem to have a problem with him until he became famous for having a thought that differed with the mainstream.
It is the principal.

He had said he was an employee of a non-governmental group rather than declaring "his true activity" as the director of a seminary, the ministry stated.
Er, isn't being the director of a seminary the same as being an employee of a non-governmental group?
Exactly what I was thinking. Argentina's full of rabid socialists with their own socialist, dogmatic religion, and they're far too willing to lie and extend the truth to get rid of Bishop Williamson. And it's abusive.

I know a couple of archdioceses who could use him. Both are in California, coincidentally.

It appears the reason is: "Argentina's Interior Ministry said on Thursday that Bishop Williamson "has concealed the true motive for his stay in the country" because he said he was an employee of a non-governmental group rather than declaring "his true activity" as the director of a seminary."
Come on this is all an excuse.

I didn't know the Seminary of La Reja was considered a "governmental group" now.

Penance is one thing, but Omaha is quite another.
