Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus Christ Sovereign Priest to Establish Community in St. Louis

There is exciting news today from the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest for the faithful in the United States, and particularly for those in St. Louis. The Institute's order of religious sisters, the Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus Christ Sovereign Priest are planning to establish a house at St. Francis de Sales Oratory.

As announced by Canon Jason Apple, Vicar at the Oratory, at today's Mass:

“In late August the Reverend Sister Mary of the Love of God, until now Superior of “The Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus Christ Sovereign Priest” will arrive here to explore the possibilities of establishing a community of sisters of the Institute in St. Louis. We all are looking forward to her arrival and are very excited about the wonderful gift of being able to welcome Sister Marie of the Love of God at the Oratory whose health problems made a change of her position desirable. Even if the frailty of her health may be seen as a blessing in disguise for us, we should still pray for her full recovery."

The photo above (in the story at the link above) captures Soeur Marie de l'Amour de Dieu (Sister Mary of the Love of God) with the Prior General of the Institute, the Very Reverend Monsignor Gilles Wach being greeted by His Holiness Benedict XVI this past April.

Sister Marie was the first Mother Superior of the Adorers of the Royal Heart. Now she will assess the necessary requirements to establish a community in the United States. We do not yet know the exact details, but I will follow up as I have information. By God's providence, a residence of these holy Sisters will be a blessing to the Oratory faithful and to the efforts of the Institute at large.

There is more information about the Sisters at their website, above, and at the Institute's U.S. site, from which comes this excerpt of a letter from the Sisters describing their community and its spirituality:

"Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus Christ, Sovereign Priest, we are children of St. Francis de Sales, Doctor of divine Love. It is in his school that we desire to learn, by practice of the hidden virtues, to love and adore God in spirit and in truth, in response to the infinite and merciful Love that pours forth from the pierced Heart of the Sovereign Priest. It is to this Heart that we are consecrated - as our motto, In Corde Regis ("In the Heart of the King"), indicates - so that we may render glory to God and intercede most particularly for the priests of the Institute and the souls entrusted to them.

Our spirituality is at the same time Salesian and Benedictine, according to the spirit of the Institute of Christ the King. The core of our spirituality is founded on the worship of God, to Whom supreme adoration is due. At the heart of the life of the Church, and consequently, of the Institute is a great love of the holy Liturgy, as our holy patron St. Benedict teaches us. Through the holy Liturgy we are led to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is "the open window to the Divinity" (St. Francis de Sales). It is the Holy Liturgy which, as primary source of our spirituality, establishes the rhythm of daily life in our community."

Deo gratias! Please keep Sister Marie and all of the Adorers in your prayers.

Welcome Sister, to Saint Louis!
