Moving toward the Unity

Let me add something. Several years I was in London, and on Palm Sunday I attended the Service on the St Paul Cathedral. It was a wonderful chant of the Passion according to Matthew. At the end the ushers loudly warn that those who are not members of the Anglican Community should leave before the Benediction. Apparently that means some confession to their faith, what they want to keep clean.

I personally do not believe that the Anglican Community regardless of they want the unity or not is against Jesus Christ. They worship God as they understand God, and God who shines His sun even on the sinners, accepts them, so neither us have the rights to reject them.  We are not the Magisterium or independent depository of the truth.

The text posted by glgas is from an email that went out yesterday to members and friends of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Latin Liturgy Association.

I immediately noticed the reference to benediction and thought to myself, "This rector is not really a priest.  This is not the Blessed Sacrament.  So who will bless, and with what?!"

When the Holy Father's new Apostolic Constitution on the Anglicans was released several months ago, I visited St. Clement's, which is within walking distance of my office.  It is indeed a "lovely setting" and more Catholic than 80% of the Catholic churches i have been in.  I sent an email to the rector afterwards, asking him if he and his parish intended to unite with Rome under the terms of the Apostolic Constitution.  He responded immediately, telling me there was no need, since they were already Catholic.  Then I saw his blog, which derides the very idea.

I telephoned the author of the email that was sent out yesterday to ask him why he had invited people to vespers at such a church, and to "benediction" no less.  He acknowledged to me that he realized, too late, that it was a mistake.  He had also been contacted by at least several members of the Latin Liturgy Association about the same issue.

So, glgas, you are mistaken.  The rector at St. Clement's is not interested in true unity.  His blog will assure you of that.  The email that went out to us was a mistake.  I'm afraid that many people have been scandalized.  The author of the email, I must say, has up until now been diligent in announcing information about local traditional Latin Masses, so we need to forgive his error.

It doesn't matter whether you believe it or not. The Magisterium has told us that the Anglicans are heretics, they don't have valid sacraments, and they aren't in union with the Church (they rejected the Church, we didn't reject them).
