If you HAD to be noble in the traditional European sense, then the Order of Malta would be out of business in the United States. But the Order draws tons of money and membership out of the U.S.

I thought about that after I posted. In the past 100-200 years they probably have dropped that requirement out of necessity. Even though, there are only 1,800 members in the US and deduct the number that are priests and the rest probably within so many generations could show linkage to some European blue blood. But you are probably right.
