Not claiming that Islam is a religion of peace, it certainly is not. However, this case is not as typical as it might seem to us Americans (although it is more common than the optimists expect).

It is typical for Pakistan:

A college fraternity brother from Pakistan (Karachi) tells me that it is indeed common.
