How do you tell a woman to dress modestly without the implication that you think she dresses like a tart? Depends on the woman and the approach. I had a guy take me to my first Latin Mass. He'd only seen me in slacks, and asked if I had a skirt. I thought that was a very clever, yet gentle, way of telling me that I should wear a skirt. If he had phrased it as more of a directive, i.e. "you need to wear a skirt", I would have been annoyed.
Yes, I don't know you, but from the way you write it appears she is only comfortable dressing like you did... I have only seen her in nice slacks, but I won't press this issue or get her annoyed... I;m assuming when she does get around to joining me at the TLM I could say, "Have you ever worn a skirt"? Or should I just say, "Do you have a skirt??" It has to go below the knees too, I surmise. The bottom line is at least she has agreed to attend a TLM with me. :)
