So are these images of Mexican Catholics as debauched and/or pagan based on stereotypes or based on experience? If it's based on stereotypes, you know what to do and when to do it - the Irish and Italians Christianized the public discourse of America, why do you doubt that Mexicans will do the same? And if it's based on experience, what do you think of the predominantly Mexican parishes you've been to? Of the piety and devotion of the people who worship in them?
