I had the Nazis in mind when I referred to the Left.  They were National Socialists.  Fascists are on the left also.  The left believes in a powerful central government.  A fascist wants a powerful government, though ownership remains in private hands, the socialist wants a powerful government, with capital ownership in the State's hands, the Communist wants a powerful government, with ALL ownership in State hands.  All want a powerful government.   They are leftists.  And they always decide that Catholics have to be killed.

At best, National Socialism/Fascism is a false right, seeking to return to a past that never existed (a psuedo-pagan Greater Germany).  No wonder the actual reactionaries bitterly opposed them.

Excellent! Thank you for putting it so succinctly.

I really don't believe you can compare German National Socialists from the Nazi era to what we today would consider "leftists".

As a matter of fact, the Church has moved more towards the commies and socialists than the Nazi's ever dreamed of.

And also consider the fact that Franco was more or less a fascist or closely allied himself with fascists and nazi's and Spain was still a distinctively Catholic nation until his death many years later. Actually, the more countries become democratic, the more anti-Catholic they tend to become.

Democracy seems to be the flip side on the coin of Communism, just look at most "democratic" nations who seem to have no problem allowing communist/socialist parties within their borders, but wherever Nationalists/NS or Fascists exists it fiercely fights and defends against Communism.

You could. But you would be misrepresenting the right, as Nazism or National Socialism is left wing extremism.

Yes, it is available here, but it appears to lack some of the last chapters.
