It might have something to do with the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, because I saw the same pilgrimage advertised on the Slaves website and in their newsletter.

No, they are not connected with the Slaves, although the latter does attend this each year.  It is a great pilgrimage, whether you attend the long one or the short Saturday-only walk. 
I know the people that run this organization...the board of advisors includes many wonderful people.
