Anyone here ever drink "Reaper Ale?" It is my only expirience with the products of a micro-brewery, and I was not pleased....

Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (Chico, Calif.)
Aracadia Ales: India Pale Ale (Battle Creek, Mich.)
Paulaner Hefe-Weizen (Munich, Germany)
Rogue Ales: Dead Man's Ale (Newport, Oregon)
St. Feuillien (Le Roeulx, Belgium)

From the Rituale Romanum:

Blessing of Beer

V. Adjutorium nostrum in nomine Domini.
R. Qui fecit caelum et terram.
V. Dominus vobiscum.
R. Et cum spiritu tuo.

Oremus.
R. Amen.

Et aspergatur aqua benedicta.

V. Our help is in the name of the Lord.
R. Who made heaven and earth.
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with thy.spirit.

Let us pray.
Bless, + O Lord, this creature beer, which thou hast deigned to produce from the fat of grain: that it may be a salutary remedy to the human race, and grant through the invocation of thy holy name; that, whoever shall drink it, may gain health in body and peace in soul. Through Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.

And it is sprinkled with holy water.

Although it is not specifically indicated in the Rituale, one must (after this blessing is recited) proceed to the consumption of the beer in order to receive the full benefit of the blessing.[Image: beer2.gif]

Credo,

I am sorry that your first experience was less than ideal.  However, there are many good micro-brews.

Even though it has been said, it cannot be repeated enough - Chimay Grand Reserve (the blue label) is the best beer in the world.   God be praised, there are many other good (and less expensive) beers, too.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the good fortune to pick up a six-pack of a Chicago brew.  :clink:

Intriguing, Kathy!! I must see if that's sold down here and give it a shot. I'm always up for trying interesting new beers. :) My sister found a woman who brewed her own beer at home with her husband. Although she wouldn't sell any, she gave her a bottle of Blueberry Ale!! Interesting flavors like that are always on my "to try" list. :p
