Quote: Since this thread has made a come back, I'll ask this question here.  Can you name one or more beers that fit the following criteria?
1.  At least reasonably available in most parts of the USA
2. Not owned by one of the huge conglomerates*
3. Not outrageously expensive (for my purposes I'll set $40((US)) as an approximate cutoff for 24, 12 oz bottles.)
4.  Of excellent quality (in your opinion)

Shiner Bock.  But it is somewhat regional.  It is available in the South and in the Plains.  Don't know if it has gone farther.  Your liquor store can order it for you.  Price is not bad at all.  No where near $40/case.  More like $24.

I like New Castle also.  Don't recall the price though.

Newcastle is owned by Heineken International, the third largest brewing conglomerate in the world. :)

Not necessarily in order...

1.  Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA
2.  Sebago Brewing Co. Boathouse Brown Ale
3.  Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA
4.  Otter Creek Brewing Alpine Black IPA
5.  Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Harvest

Actually, are just too many darn good beers to actually say what the favorites are!
