No I think that is more of real threat to orthodoxy.

That was approved even the mighty Archbishop Lefebvre, he signed it. All bishops and the pope cannot be wrong.

"Not every valid council in the history of the Church has been a fruitful one; in the last analysis, many of them have been a waste of time.  Despite all the good to be found in the texts it produced, the last word about the historical value of Vatican Council II has yet to be spoken."

Ratzinger, Joseph. Principles of Catholic Theology: building Stones for a Fundamental Theology. San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1987, p. 378.

Smoke can get into the eyes as well as the lungs.  Vatican II has plenty of smoke in it to attack, unity, orthodoxy and a whole host of other areas of the Church and the world.

Too many people invest V2 with a character it lacks.

Sure they can. Just not when exercising their infallible teaching office.

It's great to know our Holy Father has an understanding of where traditionalists are coming from.  Viva Papa Bene!

Yeah, that was heartwarming to read that.  It's nice to know that someone up there understands what we're going through and wants to open a door and give us a cool drink of lemonade in the shade.

So how can so many trads be so against him?  ???  The evidence is there - he's alright.

Isn't there strong evidence he was actually tricked into signing support of the new rite?  He was blind, of course.

It made little sense that he did an about-face so soon after his famed Intervention, with nothing really changed.
