Any reference to a Greek chorus is hilarious; this one is especially awesome.
Agreed. I have always enjoyed the irony of "tragedies." :)

My mom and I argued over the weather. One famous instance was when there was a tornado that did some damage and she insisted there was no tornado. "It was just winds!" she said. I snapped back "What do you think tornadoes are?!?"

Yep. The weather.

Come to think of it, I argue with colleagues over the weather too. So many people bellyache about Canadians winters - I tell em that i love em - keeps the bugs small!

It's an inappropriate YouTube series.  Probably equivalent to R-Rated.  :|

But funny.  :)

That could be said, but that is not what the OP said.

"What he said was nutbar lunacy."

No, ggreg, in your haste to insult me, you forgot to read the post carefully. Go read it again. What I said was: a woman claimed 40% of Americans belonged to some kind of unholy order, not me.

I'm not going to make a big deal out of it, but you didn't read the post correctly. Sorry.

A woman came up to me about 5 years ago and said she was "raped by the Pope".  Then she shuffled off and picked up some aluminum cans and put them into a plastic bag.

Given the sexual abuse crisis in the Church it would appear to me more likely that she was telling the truth than that 40% of Americans are part of any sort of satanic cult.  Both are SO unlikely that they border on the impossible but a small but significant proportion of clerics have been found to be abusers.

As a result I have not relayed her testimony to anyone until today.

This is called prudence by some and common sense by others.  You don't going around putting crazy statements of other nutbars out on the Internet and then disassociate yourself from them because you didn't come up with the idea.  A person who is balanced says to themselves "that is a crazy statement" which defies my experience of Americans and does not put it out.

Now obviously we all draw this line in different places.  But only nutbars draw it at the extreme end of the bell curve.  Some people here think Vox is a nutbar because he thinks the World Trade Center was blown up and does not accept the official story.  However, the 911 Truth people do have some interesting "evidence" at least.  Building 7, the speed and control of the collapse.  Finding an intact passport in the rubble.  Some thought has gone into it.

Even the wacko two Sister Lucy theory had some attempt at making a case by posting various pictures of her on the Tradition Inaction site.  99% of people on here still think it was nutbar to suggest it however, since the contrasting pictures did not really look a great deal different to most of us.

But just loging on to this fisheaters forum and saying some women in Europe told you that 40% of Americans were involved in some manner Satanic worship/cult without saying who that women was or how she could know that, or what evidence or testimony there was puts you, in my opinion, firmly in the nutbar camp.  Whether you are the source of the nuttiness or just the messanger who has failed to put it through the filter of your rational mind is hardly the point.  If you want normal people to believe that Traditionalist Catholics are intelligent, discerning people with better solutions as to how to make the world a better place and save our immortal souls to boot then you don't really want to mix that with mad and unsubstantiated nuttiness.

LOL, you must have been a fly on the wall when my dad and I discussed religion or politics.  Everyone would leave the room because of all the table-pounding and yelling.  We were great fun at family gatherings, not.

We got along great except for those two topics.  If only he hadn't been so wrong about both, we would have gotten along better.  ;D

LOL...2nd that...but dad's not off on politics in my case.

if nutbar is the sum total of what you've been refered to.....lighten up...it's conversation...I call my friends worse than that...way worse.

And to tell the truth...there's not really much of the insults and nastiness here that is found on other trad cath forums...one in particular that I check on periodically is substantially worse and has a fraction of the trafic that FE gets.

Meanwhile a perfectly interesting topic goes to hell. I feel socioty has forced people to suppress their thoughts, and feminism has destroyed the male culture of talking politics and religion into...just talk about your nice football games deeries. You know how many time me and couple of male relatives or friends are at a family event...and we are just enjoying ourselves passionatly discussing the politics of the day...and in come the woman to break it up....well of course I try to keep going but the feminised ones put a lid on it....IMO
So what causes me to be insulting is being insulted (not just shined on messed with) but a deliberate insult meant to stifle a good discussion.

You have never let things slide voxylady...that's part of your problem...and what's more you have posted that you are aware of this failing....meawhile....what perfectly interesing threads are you refering to?  I have never seen an intersting thread devolve.
And what's with you and feminism...?

LOL

My husband and I argue all the time about the weather. He can't stand humidity and I can't stand aridity.  ::)
