I say an Ave every time I see an ambulance, police car, or fire truck. My sister is an EMT and I'm in nursing school... I have had many patients die but their deaths were comfortable, managed. I was driving on the highway the other day & a girl ran out in front of a truck. Being a first responder is tough. We are trained to help people and when we can't, it feels like we've failed and there's no fixing it. A good friend really helped me when she reminded me that saving a person's life is nothing compared to saving their immortal soul. I pray for the girl I could not save and I know that when she gets to heaven, she will pray for me and remember that I helped her when she could not pray for herself in Purgatory. We cannot always save people temporally but saving their souls is so much greater.
I will pray for the man involved, his family, and you. God bless and protect you in your work.
