Who will successfully defend that city-state from the Mohams if you get yer wish?  Right now Catholics enjoy access to the Holy Land thanks to the IDF, a bad-ass Western security force which the United States rents for $3billion/yr.  Does the Vatican have $3billion+/yr to rent a security force as bad-ass as the IDF?  No, it doesn't.  So, if ya get yer wish...Jerusalem will become just another Moham territory.  Now, in a better world, the IDF would be a Catholic force...but the Swiss Guard ain't the IDF, and the IDF ain't Catholic.
